Is it possible to perform downgrade (rollback) from iOS X firmware to iOS Y?

There are old iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPad 1, 2, 3. Is it possible to lower the firmware, say, to iOS 6? Now it’s iOS 8 and iOS 9.

Hi guys. Friends have a bunch of semi-hardened devices. iPhone 4, 4s, iPad 1, 2, 3. They have the latest firmware versions. And of course, these bodies work already. As far as I understand, it will not work to make downgrade on 6 iOS without jailbreaking?

If you had prepared a vidos and a set of files for a young flash driver for Mac and Windows, this would be such a royal gift for them. Well, for me, since it is interesting for me and I will have to do the hike 🙂

Maybe some craftsmen in the services will be able to show the master class. Just on YouTube is full of everything, but it is not clear, do these videos and articles work in today’s realities?

Dmitry, welcome. See what the situation is.

A rollback to the previous firmware is impossible due to the fact that Apple simply stopped their subscription. Here, for example, iPhone 4s. You can
roll back, but only on iOS 9.3.5. In iPhone 4, this is iOS 7. Here, the principle seems to be working – it was updated – it’s my own fault.
The only option to return is to have a full backup of the firmware using third-party utilities until the update to the “fresh” firmware. I do not think that your comrades have this 🙁

Downgrade is possible, but with a full image of the original device – his personal one. If not, alas.

What firmware is relevant here .

For example, the iPhone 2g is more fun – the first firmware is still signed there. For iPhone 3G, it is from iOS 2. All of them are easily filled in the Restore mode via the clamped Shift / Option (Mac).
