Earlier, many celebrities from China refused to cooperate with the brand because of the scandal.
Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana recorded a video message, which apologized to the Chinese people, and also assured that “they have always loved China and loved Chinese culture even more thanks to their trips.” The message ends with the word “sorry” in Chinese.
The scandal around the fashion house Dolce & Gabbana erupted after the brand posted videos on social networks shot to advertise the Shanghai show. In these videos, an Asian model tried to eat Italian food with chopsticks.
Many commentators found the video insulting and “indulgent” towards the Chinese. Separately, it was noted that the second hieroglyph in the word “Shanghai” was written in Japanese, and not in Chinese. Also in social networks there were screenshots of correspondence allegedly with Gabbana, where he spoke disrespectfully about China. He assured that his account was hacked, and he never said anything like that.
The result of the scandal was that a number of Chinese celebrities and trading houses refused to cooperate with the brand.
