US officials approached their colleagues with information about the perceived risks of cybersecurity using Huawei.
Of particular concern to US representatives is the use of Chinese equipment in countries where there are US military bases (for example, Germany, Japan, Italy), so they turned to their colleagues to reconsider the current infrastructure of their networks. Huawei has long been identified as a security threat to the United States. Such accusations are being made against the background of the company’s alleged ties with the Chinese government, because it was founded by former military engineer Zhen Zhenfei.
Attention to Huawei has begun since Donald Trump became the president of the United States, as trade relations began to worsen between Washington and Beijing. Currently, the company is the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world and one of the largest manufacturers of equipment for working with telephone networks. According to insiders, the United States can increase the assistance provided for the development of telecommunications services in those countries that refuse Huawei equipment. For example, now in Australia it is already forbidden to use the equipment of this company, which is intended for operation in 5G networks, and in the UK the company has been heavily criticized.
