The company Xiaomi acquired the business of producing self-smartphone Meitu. Mobile phones will go under the same name, but Xiaomi will be in charge of engineering issues, promotion and sales. The only thing that remains for Meitu is the development of the application of the same name, which will be an asset to the brand.
From the point of view of Meitu, the strategic partnership will allow the brand to continue “a mission whose goal is to inspire people to freely express their own beauty.”
As noted by The Verge, Meitu cannot be called a major player in the market: in just five years, only 3.5 million mobile devices were sold. Xiaomi, in turn, is called the “ideal partner.”
