White Wolf Studio will no longer develop games.
The company Paradox Interactive announced the disbandment of the studio White Wolf, which created one of the most famous board role-playing games – Vampire: The Masquerade. The reason was the scandal around the chapter on Chechnya, added to the fifth edition of the book-application Camarilla.
Paradox Interactive will temporarily suspend sales and printing of books on the Camarilla and the Anarch, until it removes the section on Chechnya from the materials. It will be removed from both the printed and PDF versions of the book. The manufacturing company suggested that it would take about three weeks. Those who have already issued a pre-order, will be informed about the transfer of delivery and further instructions by e-mail.

Authors should not be afraid to raise difficult or sensitive topics, but they should not do this without understanding those affected by these topics and what this means for them. There is a real evil in the world, and we have no right to excuse the real perpetrators or minimize the sufferings of the real victims.[/perfectpullquote] [perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]With the head of Chechnya, we forgot about our principle. As a result, this part of the book touched upon the problems of the real world cruelly and without respect. We had to understand this either during the period of working out the idea, or during editing. This did not happen, and we apologize for it.[/perfectpullquote]
After disbanding, White Wolf will stop working separately, write materials and create board games. Studio employees will be part of Paradox Interactive, where they will support the brand and issue licenses to other studios to develop new products in the universe.
The fifth edition of the book Camarilla told that the territory of modern Chechnya is ruled by a vampire clan that drinks the blood of local residents. The head of the republic indicated “Sultan Ramzan”. According to the board game, statements about the persecution of the LGBT community in the region are needed to divert attention from the dominance of vampires.
A spokesman for the head of the Chechen Republic, Alvi Karimov, called the goal of the White Wolf developers to “blacken” Russia and the region. The Chechen Minister for National Policy and External Relations, Jambulat Umarov, saw incitement of ethnic hatred in the game and threatened the developers with a court.
