“Soyuz 2.1b” put into orbit the satellite of the Ministry of Defense


This is the first successful launch of the “Union” after the accident.On the night of October 25, the launch vehicle Soyuz 2.1b was successfully launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome (Arkhangelsk region). The device brought the satellite of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to the calculated orbit. Interfax reported this with reference to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry.

The Defense Ministry said that the satellite “Cosmos – 2528” “was adopted to control the ground-based means of the Space Forces VCS.” The on-board systems are functioning, and a stable telemetric connection is also maintained with it.

On October 11, Soyuz-FG launched from Baikonur with the Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft, on board of which was the crew of the ISS. At the 119th second of the flight there was an accident. Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin and American astronaut Nick Haig evacuated and landed in Kazakhstan.
