OnePlus moved the date of its presentation because of an Apple event. Journalists will be refunded for tickets already purchased.

The company admitted that it could not compete for attention with the American giant.

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus announced on its website that the presentation of the new flagship company OnePlus 6T is shifting from October 30 to October 29. This happened just a day after Apple sent out invitations to journalists for its presentation – it is also scheduled for October 30, and also for the morning.

Like Apple, OnePlus was going to make a presentation of the flagship in New York – however, it announced the date as early as October 8. In clarifying the date of the presentation, the company acknowledged that it does not want to compete for the attention of journalists who will not be able to break between the two events, and therefore moves its next day.

When we announced the launch of the OnePlus 6T on October 8, we were convinced that the timing would maximize the number of people we could reach. Everything changed when Apple announced that it would hold its event on October 30.

We know that the entire industry and journalists will watch with a sinking heart. So imagine how we felt when we learned about the date of their event. […]

We have just begun our journey and cannot allow one of the most important products in our history to be susceptible to launching another great product.

Pete Lau
CEO OnePlus

According to Lau, those journalists who have already bought tickets for a different date and will lose money due to the shift will receive full compensation from the company.

It is expected that the OnePlus 6T, as in the Vivo Nex and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, will have a built-in fingerprint sensor. From the event, Apple journalists are waiting for the announcement of the new iPad Pro with Face ID and MacBook Air lineup update.
