Amazon has officially unveiled a new generation of one of the most popular e-books – Kindle Paperwhite. The novelty has become thinner and lighter, has acquired IP8X protection from water, as the older and more expensive model of the Kindle Oasis.
The previous update lineup occurred in 2015. Then Paperwhite got an improved screen. It remained in the updated book: 6 inches with five points of illumination and a resolution of 1072 × 1448 pixels. The glass panel will cover both the screen and the massive frames around it. The previous model, these frames were plastic and protruded above the screen. Unlike its predecessor, the novelty is “thinner” from 9.1 to 8.18 mm. Protection against water will allow you to read on the beach or in the bathroom and not worry about preserving the operability of the device.
Also Paperwhite can connect to wireless headphones via Bluetooth and has built-in support for Audible, a service for listening to audiobooks.
Prices for new items in the US start at $ 129 for a version with 8 GB of internal memory. For $ 159 you can buy a model for 32 GB. But a similar version, but with the ability to connect to cellular networks will cost $ 249. Shipment of books will begin on November 7th.
