The miracle did not happen – the company introduced the same devices that hit the network.
At the presentation in New York, Google introduced the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones, as well as several other devices, including the Pixel Slate tablet on Chrome OS and the HomeHub smart display. Due to the leaks, almost all the announcements at the presentation were known in advance, and Pixel 3 fell into the hands of Russian video bloggers in August – more than a month before the event.
Compared to its predecessors, Pixel 3 received an enlarged display by reducing the frame, and added a “bang” in the larger version. In the neckline are two selfie cameras, one of which has a wide-angle lens.
Both smartphones for the first time received wireless charging up to 10 watts. Also, Google presented its charging station at the presentation – Pixel Stand.
In addition, Top Shot will appear in Pixel 3, which itself selects the best shot from a series of frames using artificial intelligence and Super Res Zoom, using several frames and AI, so that the image can be enlarged without loss of quality. Images in poor light will improve automatically due to machine learning.
Pixel 3 will be available in three colors from 799 dollars for 64 gigabytes of internal memory, and 3 XL – from 899 dollars. Pre-orders for smartphones will begin immediately after the presentation, the first customers will be offered six months of free YouTube Premium subscription. The start of sales in Russia was not reported.
A new tablet from Google is working on Chrome OS. The case for it has a backlit keyboard, quiet buttons and a stand for the screen. This is the second attempt by Google to make a tablet under the brand Pixel: the first was Pixel C on Android.
Pixel Slate comes with an eighth-generation Intel processor up to the i7 model, 16 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal memory. The tablet is equipped with stereo speakers, two cameras of 8 megapixels each and a 12.3-inch display that is “much more efficient than a regular LCD.” The power button contains a built-in fingerprint sensor to quickly unlock the device.
Pixel Slate will be available “later in 2018” at a price of $ 599 for a version with an Intel Celeron processor. In the maximum configuration the device will cost $ 1599. The keyboard is sold separately for $ 199.
With the help of Home Hub, Google seeks to create a “responsive and thoughtful home” thanks to the opportunity not only to hear the answers from the assistant, but also to see them on the screen. Home Hub can recognize the voices of different people. Unlike competitors in the form of Amazon Echo Show or Facebook Portal, presented on October 8, Home Hub does not have an integrated camera.
The company has optimized its services, such as search, YouTube, Maps, Calendar and Photos, by adapting them for voice control to a “smart” display. Thanks to the Home View function, the Home Hub will be able to monitor and control all the smart devices in the house.
The device can also be used as a photo frame: the Google Photo application is integrated into it. In addition, Home Hub has a function for viewing recipes: Google believes that the new device is “the best display for the kitchen”.
Home Hub will be available from October 22 in four colors: green, pink, dark gray and white. The device will cost $ 149 and will appear at the start only in the US, UK and Canada.
