On October 2, the Spanish Tarragona passed traditional Catalan contest on building the highest “human castles” – Castel, in the construction of each of which take hundreds of people. There are five rounds in the competition, in which not only the height, but also the complexity of the tower is evaluated.

The event is held every two years, its history is rooted in the traditions of medieval fairs, and now it is on the UNESCO list of cultural heritage. At the same time, not only Spain represents their teams for the competition – for example, in 2016, the Chinese castellists first appeared in the competition.

About 20 thousand spectators from all over the world come to watch the castellists competitions.
