China confirmed the arrest of the president of Interpol. He disappeared in late September

The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party officially confirmed the investigation against Men Hongwei, the head of Interpol. The official disappeared in late September, when he went to the country on vacation. About this with reference to the committee reported Reuters.

Chinese authorities reported that Hongwei was suspected of “criminal activity” without clarification. According to their data, he landed in the country on September 25 and was immediately taken for interrogation. This is the first official statement after the French police launched an investigation into the disappearance of the head of Interpol on October 5 .

The police turned to the wife of the president of Interpol, who lives in Lyon. According to her , Hongwei sent her a photo of the knife immediately after the disappearance to warn of the danger. The last thing he wrote to his wife: “Wait for my call,” it was September 25th.

Meng Hongwei is a citizen of China, and worked as deputy minister for public security. In 2016, he took over as head of Interpol, the international police involved in combating criminal offenses. Currently there is no information about where the official is located.
