iFixit denied rumors about the impossibility of repairing new Macs in third-party services

Two days ago, an official Apple document appeared on the network , intended for authorized service centers. It was said that it was impossible to repair computers with a T2 chip by service centers that had not been certified by the company.

We are talking about the models of MacBook Pro 2018 and monoblock iMac Pro. It is in these devices that the same T2 chip is installed.

The guys from the popular company iFixit decided to disassemble and personally verify that the self-repair will lead to the fact that the computer does not turn on.

Despite what was written in the document, in reality everything turned out to be not so bad. First, iFixit swapped the displays on two MacBook Pros. And then rearranged the motherboards. Both in the first and in the second case the laptops turned on without additional tests and special utilities.

Alas, this does not exclude the fact that in the future Apple plans to transfer all of its products to exclusively authorized repairs at service centers that have been certified. 9to5 ]
