According to the documents, on February 8 investigator Denis Pomogaibo during a pre-investigation check asked the Nevsky District Court of St. Petersburg to provide access to Nikitin’s correspondence for the period from August 19, 2015 to November 28, 2015. It should specify the users-interlocutors of the defendant, the exact time of sending, the date of registration of the user, as well as information about the binding to the mobile number and e-mail address.
The court considered the petition legitimate. VKontakte replied on 21 February. The document, which was signed by the head of the security service V. Yu. Russkov, says that the social network provided all correspondence of the user to the CD-R in the volume of more than 1 MB. While the investigation did not use the data from Nikitin’s personal correspondence for his own purposes, Maxim Kamakin told Novaya Gazeta.
