SpaceX chose the first tourist who will make a weekly flight around the moon on the company’s ship. He became a Japanese billionaire, 42-year-old Yusaku Maezawa.

Maezawa founded the online clothing store Zozo, Forbes estimates his fortune of 2.9 billion dollars. The businessman intends to take on board the ship eight representatives of the field of art, said Musk.

The billionaire has already made an advance payment for the trip. SpaceX did not disclose the amount of the trip, but called it “significant.”

SpaceX announced that it had chosen the first passenger to fly around the moon, but promised to disclose its name only on 17 September.

In February 2017, the company announced plans to send “space tourists” to the moon. The first flight, a week long, was initially planned to take place at the end of 2018, but then the period was postponed until mid-2019. During a commercial mission, it is planned to fly around the satellite without landing on the surface.
