Reuters learned about testing the FSB and Roscomnadzor of a new technology for blocking Telegram

During the tests, the MTProto and SOCKS protocols were blocked, but they blocked access to Sberbank Online.

Roskomnadzor, the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Digital Development have been testing a new system for blocking Telegram and other forbidden resources for more than a month. Laboratory tests are conducted on the networks of Rostelecom in the Moscow region of Reutov. This is reported by Reuters referring to the minutes of the meeting of the commission.

According to the document, the commission wanted to check the operation of traffic filtering systems from several Russian companies. The co-owner of one of them, NTTs Protei, confirmed the fact of the tests, but the company allegedly refused to participate. He added that Roskomnadzor wants to find a working solution for locks, which would be applied by operators and providers throughout Russia.

The task was set on a large scale, and the time for preparation was quite small. As part of testing on the Rostelecom network, DPI wanted to recognize and block almost all known network protocols on the channel in more than 1 Tbit / s. Our DPI works successfully on the networks of many telecom operators, but for more specific tasks

As Reuters told two sources, the commission will choose the best system based on the tests, which have been extended for an indefinite period. During the tests, the specialists tried to block the protocols MTProto and SOCKS, but in the end they blocked access to other resources, including Sberbank. Online.

Roskomnadzor began to block Telegram on April 16, but the messenger is still working. Due to the blocking of millions of IP addresses of large hosting providers, there were interruptions in the work of many sites that are not connected with the messenger.
