Almost two thousand tiles of cocaine arrived in three containers from Brazil.
In the port city of Ghent (Belgium), the police found a record consignment of drugs, consisting of almost two tons of cocaine. According to the federal judicial police of East Flanders, the approximate cost of the supply is 100 million euros in terms of prices when selling to the end user on the street (or 56 million euros at market prices).
Cocaine was found in three containers loaded with tiles from Brazil. The drugs were packed in 1900 packs. The Belgian prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case and is searching for the organizers of the delivery channel.
The Belgian VRT television channel has published live video footage showing that the packages with cocaine have been marked with the logo of the United Russia political party. Video of the same content was released by the Dutch television channel NOS. The reason for the logo on the tiles is not explained, and the European media did not pay attention to it.
The EMCDDA Drug Agency noted that it is the Belgian ports that account for almost half of all seizures of cocaine in Europe. According to the agency, the drug is increasingly imported through northern ports.
