Sony announced the development of a 48-megapixel camera sensor for smartphones

Sony on its website announced the imminent appearance of a new IMX586 sensor for smartphone cameras. It is expected that it will bring the resulting images to an even higher level – in particular, it concerns the shooting with magnification.

The sensor will receive a resolution of 48 megapixels, and the size of one megapixel will be only 0.8 μm. The system will allow you to make better images with high sensitivity, and the sensor should also cope well with poor lighting.

Together with this IMX586 will get other proprietary technologies Sony like the system of exposure control.

Sensor supplies will begin in September. At the moment it is not known which smartphones will be equipped with IMX586.
