WSJ: Samsung will release a bent smartphone in 2019

It will cost about 1,5 thousand dollars.

In Samsung are working on a smartphone with two screens, which can be added as a purse. The device is planned to be released in 2019 at a price of 1.5 thousand dollars. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to its own sources.

According to the publication, the smartphone will have a 7-inch display, which can be bent half to the size of the purse. When folded, there will be a small screen on the front panel and a camera system on the back.

Due to the “double” display, the company will add an enlarged battery to the smartphone. The device is planned to first focus on niche users, for example, gamers – but if the launch is successful, the audience can expand in the second half of 2019.

The media are not the first to report bending smartphones from Samsung. In October 2017, it became known about a patent for such a device.

Then Samsung said that she began working on the bending smartphone several times. The engineer of the company noted that after frameless screens the company will switch to bending phones.

Some companies have already tried to produce bent smartphones. For example, ZTE Axon M, released in 2017, is equipped with two screens and a “partition” between them, thanks to which it can be folded like a book.
