Architecture: Psychiatric Clinic in the Arctic Landscape

Natural materials, large windows and an atmosphere of peace.

Scandinavian architectural firm White Arkitekter reported on its plans to build a psychiatric clinic in the capital of Greenland, Nuuk. The plan is to create a space with a “perfectly balanced, calm, healing and trustworthy atmosphere.”

Architects have relied on panoramic windows, allowing you to visually “connect” to the landscape outside the building. Inside the premises will use natural materials, mostly wood, and in places of common use it is assumed a lot of greenery.

The clinic will be built near the center of the capital, next to the main entrance to the already existing Dronning Ingrid hospital. The building with an area of 3300 square meters will have a view of the Greenland fjord and snow-covered rocks. At the same time it will be made low – like the other buildings in Nuuk.
