So the inhabitants of the province of West Papua avenged their compatriot, who was found dead after the attack of animals.
According to Reuters, the head of the environmental agency of the Indonesian province of Western Papua Basar Manulling said that on Saturday, dozens of villagers killed 292 crocodiles after the funeral of a 48-year-old man. He entered the territory of the farm for breeding crocodiles, to pick grass for his livestock.
“The employee [farm for breeding crocodiles] heard someone shouting for help, he quickly went there [in the direction of calling for help] and saw how the crocodile attacked someone,” Basar Manulling said.
One of the witnesses told the edition of The Jakarta Post that “the crocodiles were caught, dragged out of the water and beaten with knives to death. It was terrible”.Photo by Olha Mulalinda / Antara Foto / Reuters
Basar Manullahn said that the farm had all the necessary permits for the cultivation of protected comb and New Guinea crocodiles, and those who attacked it violated the law by destroying private property. He also added that owners of farm licenses need to protect the surrounding areas so that this does not happen again.
