Since 2012, the PC market has experienced a prolonged decline. But for the first time in six years in the second quarter of 2018, two research firms (Gartner and IDC) agreed that the market began to grow. Over the reporting period, it grew by 2.7% – according to IDC and 1.4% – according to Gartner data compared to the same period last year.
The figures vary, because companies consider the delivery of equipment a little differently. IDC pays attention to sales of “hrombukov” and excludes Windows-tablets with the ability to connect keyboards (Surface Pro). While Gartner takes into consideration tablets on Windows and excludes “Chromebooks”.
Analysts believe that the driver for growth in the market were orders for the corporate segment, while the number of shipments in the consumer segment declined.
