Paleontologists announced the discovery of a new species of dinosaur. It was called Ingentia prima, and these creatures lived about 210-205 million years ago on the territory of modern Argentina.
In length, the herbivorous dinosaur reached 10 meters, and its height exceeded four meters. The new species belongs to the group of sauropods of the order of the lizardfish – these are some of the largest dinosaurs known to science today.
The discovery of Ingentia prima allowed specialists to establish that the giant dinosaurs appeared 30 million years earlier than was previously thought. Distinctive feature of large dinosaurs – vertebrae with empty cavities, due to which their weight was not excessively large. Now hollow bones are found in birds.
