NASA plans to launch a probe to the Sun, which is closer to the luminary closer than humanity ever allowed itself – by about 6 million kilometers. For this, a protection system has been developed that can withstand the entire pressure of the fire sphere, giving light and heat to the Earth.
Protection is a multi-layer coating of carbon-based materials. The temperature outside will reach about 1370 degrees Celsius. Inside the same probe, where the measurement systems and other components will be placed, a comfortable temperature of 30 degrees Celsius should be maintained.
The launch is scheduled for August 2018.
