Last year, astronomers discovered the first interstellar object, which was christened Oumuamua. The specialists had many questions about its origin and type. Previously, the stranger was called an asteroid, but now it turned out that this is a comet.
Astronomers came to this conclusion after studying the trajectory of motion. It turned out that the object moves with acceleration, and such habits are characteristic for comets. For their observations, scientists used both terrestrial telescopes and space Hubble.
Specialists note that Oumuamua is not like any object that astronomers have dealt with before. Although it is a comet, but in composition it is close to an asteroid – according to observations, it is rich in metals and rocks.
