In Belarus, three Russians were sentenced to 7-8 years’ imprisonment for demanding payment of fines for viewing porn on behalf of the Interior Ministry. According to theUK, cybercriminals also blocked users’ computers, from their actions more than 900 people were injured.

The USC representative for the Minsk region, Tatiana Belonog, reported in January 2017 that the Russians sent notification of fines from November 2015 to February 2016. It turned out that they rented a house in the Minsk region, and used “malicious software.”

To pay a fine, it was suggested to transfer money to the account of the subscriber number of one of the Belarusian mobile operators. According to Belonog, the amount of damage amounted to more than 136 thousand Belarusian rubles (more than 4.2 million Russian rubles).

The attackers were accused of embezzlement on a particularly large scale, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement with the use of computer technology, computer sabotage, and the use and development of malicious programs.

As Tut.by noted, the script-blocker changed many times, it changed from computers to smartphones . In addition, the attackers demanded money on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the KGB .
