The US Patent and Trademark Office registered a patent under the number 10,000,000. It took 182 years for the government to reach this figure.
Patents on the new system began to be recorded from 1836, when a new law in the field of patents was adopted. If earlier applications were taken into account, then they would be even more – officially the first patent was signed back in 1790 by George Washington, the first president of the United States.
The first five million patents accumulated 155 years – from 1836 to 1991. But the next 5 million were typed in just 27 years.
Patents are designed to protect the rights of the creator of something to their unique work (design, industrial design, invention, and so on).
