Specialists of the Center for Space Science of the University of New Hampshire (USA) have found convincing evidence for the existence of black holes of medium mass. Previously, the scientific community differed in views on these phenomena – only small and supermassive black holes were questioned.
Now the researchers have studied the data from three satellites that capture radiation. It turned out that on one of the distant galaxies there are traces of a large radiation flare. This happened after the absorption of the star by a black hole. The specialists established the period of the incident – October 2003.
The size of the black hole was determined from the degree of photon propagation after the absorption of the star. This is one of the few relatively accurate ways to determine the size of a black hole.
