Many were surprised at how Intel at the presentation of the new 28-core processor was able to demonstrate its operation at 5 GHz clock speed. It turned out that to overclock the chip, a special motherboard with a socket LGA3647 (for Xeon processors) was assembled with advanced overclocking capabilities and 29 phases of the CPU socket power supply. And that’s not all, says Anandtech .
On a board measuring 35 by 40 cm, a massive cooler with heat sink tubes and four fans was placed. On both sides of the processor there are 12 slots for RAM, a little lower – metal-reinforced 7 slots PCI Express 3.0 x16. To the right of them is a healthy chipset radiator. The energy for all this miracle was served by a power unit Corsair AX1600i at 1600 W.
One of the important components was a bespoke liquid cooling system with a liquid temperature of 4 degrees Celsius and a Hailea HC-1000B chiller.
