Intel Company shared details about the future processor for the HEDT platform (High-end desktop computer on the X299 / LGA2066). In the fourth quarter of this year, the market will be released 28-core processor with a nominal frequency of 2.7 GHz and the ability to overclock to 5 GHz.
Representatives of Intel demonstrated its work in the overclocked state in the synthetic test Cinebench R15. As a result, the processor scored 7334 points. In this case, the overclocked Core i9-7980XE (18 cores, 36 streams) showed the result in the region of 5000 points.
It’s not quite clear what CPU cooling was used at the current demonstration, but it definitely will interest overclockers with its potential.
Probably, the processor will become the flagship of the Cascade Lake-X line, and its price will exceed $ 2,000, as the current 18-core flagship with 36 streams costs just that much.
