New Prime Minister of Spain refused to take the oath of the Bible

Instead, it was King Philip VI of Spain.


The leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party, Pedro Sanchez, took an oath on 2 June in the royal palace of Zarzuela, officially assuming the office of Spanish Prime Minister. Being an atheist, Sanchez refused to swear on the Bible, says thenewspaper El Mundo. Instead, it was King Philip VI.

The previous premier, Mariano Rajoy, was sent off on June 1 . He received a vote of no confidence from the parliament because of the corruption scandal. For the resignation of Rahoya 180 deputies out of 350 voted, the party was initiated by Sanchez.
