Apple announced iOS 11 with money transfers via iMessage and a new control panel

Apple introduced a new version of the operating system iOS 11. Distinctive features of the new release were the updated Device Control Center, money transfer via iMessage messenger and slightly improved voice assistant Siri. A new version of iOS was presented during the annual conference for developers WWDC 2017.

The new version of the Control Center has been redesigned in the form of islands with information that can expand when pressed.

The payment system Apple Pay has a function of transferring money between users, which will be implemented in the iMessage application. The money will flow to the internal account of the system, where they can be transferred to the bank cards connected to the system.

Siri received an update of the voice synthesizer with different intonations, semantic pauses and a more natural male voice. The voice assistant also got the opportunity to instantly translate the user’s speech from English into Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

The App Store has been redesigned with a new mode of displaying content with the help of cards. In the new design, the App Store has got tabs with recommendations for the day, as well as separate categories for games and applications.

iOS 11 has a new kernel for machine learning artificial intelligence. According to Apple, the updated Core ML system recognizes faces in photos six times faster than technology from Google and Samsung.

The new version of the operating system also includes support for high-performance applications with augmented reality. According to Craig Federigi, millions of iPhones and iPads will be able to support ARKit, making iOS the largest AR-system in the world.

The iOS version for the new iPad Pro tablet, presented at the same presentation, received an updated multitasking system with the ability to drag and drop objects between simultaneously running applications.

The multitasking panel for iPad Pro has changed, which has become more similar to the Dock in macOS.

Apple also showed the Files application, the information about which leaked to the Network on the morning of June 5. The utility is compatible not only with iCloud storage, but also with third-party services like Google Drive and Dropbox, and will allow you to combine all storage systems in one application.

The new version of iOS for iPad Pro has improved interaction with the “smart pencil” Apple Pencil, which allows you to recognize documents using the tablet camera and to sign them directly to the iPad. The new mechanism also allows you to add notes to the screenshots.

As noted by The Verge, the number of unnamed, but important new features of iOS 11 includes interaction with Siri with text, native QR-code support, a special mode for using a smartphone with one hand, the ability to record the screen and improved work of the 3D Touch function.

The beta version of iOS for developers will be available for download on June 5, shortly after the end of the main WWDC event. A custom version of the mobile operating system will appear in the fall of 2017.
