Emmanuelle Macron met at the Elysee Palace with the 22-year-old Malian Mamoud Gassam, who on the eve saved the child, climbing up the facade of the house without insurance. The President of France awarded the migrant with a medal of courage, promised to solve the issue of citizenship, and offered to work as a lifeguard on an ongoing basis.

It is not known what the migrant responded to the president’s proposals.

In the evening of May 26 Malian noticed that the child hung on the balcony of the fourth floor and climbed the facade of the building to save him. Eyewitnesses filmed the incident on video, and in the press the migrant was nicknamed “a real spider-man.”

In an interview with BFMTV, the man explained that he did not even think, but “just saved him.” The boy’s father was taken into custody for putting the child at risk, and the mother was not in the city at the time of the incident. The Mayor of Paris thankedGassam personally on the phone, noting that the city would support his desire to live in France.
