General Director of “Rusal” Alexander Burik May 23 went down, the acting director general was appointed Yevgeny Nikitin. Applications for resignation were also submitted by top managers Vladislav Soloviev, Sigfrid Wolf, Maxim Sokov, Dmitry Afanasyev, Gulzhan Moldazhanova, Olga Mashkovskaya and Ekaterina Nikitina.

May 18, it became known that the Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska refused to hold office on the board of directors of Rusal.

In early April, Washington introduced new sanctions against Russia, and Deripaska was on the sanctions list. This was a big blow for Rusal, in a few days its shares fell in price at the auction in Hong Kong to the historic low, for the first month the company lost about 96 billion rubles of capitalization.

Later, the US authorities said they could remove sanctions from Rusal if Deripaska refused to control the company. At the same time, the businessman himself stated that he intends to retain control, despite his departure from the board of directors.
