German Gref plans to discuss the introduction of such a system in Moscow with Sergei Sobyanin.
Developed by Sberbank in conjunction with the company VisionLab face recognition system for the month of testing helped identify and detain 42 criminals in the Moscow metro. This was told by RIA Novosti, Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the bank’s board.
He did not say which stations the system was installed on, but he noticed that there were only four of them, and the installation was coordinated with law enforcement agencies, with the Moscow metro authorities and with the traffic police in transport.
We downloaded into this system 50 thousand photographs of criminals, who are in the database of the federal search. Moreover, most of these photos are of poor quality. As a result, 42 recidivists were detained for four months at four metro stations. They received new deadlines and went to new places of detention.
According to Kuznetsov, new technologies will be in demand for use in various places of mass congestion of people, as well as to search for the missing. He assured that “today at least representatives of a dozen countries of the world would very much like to receive these developments,” while German President Gref plans to discuss with the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin the introduction of the system in Moscow.
Previously, the media linked the beginning of testing of the face recognition system in the Moscow metro with the approach of the 2018 World Cup, but Sergei Sobyanin denied this connection and said that the introduction of the system is planned for permanent work to ensure the safety of the Moscow subway. In addition, he said that the program of face recognition, contrary to rumors, cost not 4 billion, but 3 million rubles.
