The company TSMC began mass production of 7-nm processors A12 for smartphones Apple this year, reportsBloomberg. The name of the chip is tentative. The new processors should become more energy efficient and productive, they will also decrease in comparison with the 10-nm chips of the previous generation (installed in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X).
The source of the publication wished to remain anonymous, and Apple and TSMC refused to give any comments.
As reminds Bloomberg, in April of this year the contract manufacturer announced the start of sales of 7-nm chips, but the customer did not disclose. Apple will be one of the first companies to start using new chips, but not the only one – Samsung is also striving to be in the first wave. On the heels they come Qualcomm and Huawei.
