“If you can not beat them, join them.”
A member of the US Democratic Party and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton delivered a speech at the graduation ceremony at Yale University. She warned recent students about the upcoming “stormy times” and, to support the local tradition, brought her unusual headdress – a Russian fur hat.
I see that you honor the tradition with hats, so I also brought my own. It’s a hat with a fur hat. If you can not beat them, join them.
As noted by the American media, Clinton thus played a trick on Trump, recalling an unfinished investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential elections. During the speech, she noted that she still regrets “made mistakes” during the “strange and wild” campaign of 2016 and suggested that it would help “protect democracy in the future.”
Hillary Clinton wanted to follow the tradition of bringing an "over the top hat” to Yale University's commencement ceremony – so she brought a hat, too: "A Russian hat."
