Additions to Destiny, which are part of the season tickets, each time disappoint even the ardent fans of the series. The debut expansion to the first part offered a mediocre raid, part of which was easier to pass alone, and not six times, and in the second DLC raid was not at all. In the sequel, the situation did not change: Curse of Osiris upset monotonous mechanics and a nightmarish plot, who did not tell anything new about one of the most interesting characters in the universe of Destiny. And the second addition includes not the best content.
Warmind (“Military Intelligence” in the Russian localization), like the past DLC, does not introduce many new characters – we know about the majority of actors for a long time. Huntress Ana Bray, who became the key character of the supplement, is familiar from the first part, albeit in the form of a tiny biography with the name. She participated in the creation of artificial intelligence “Rasputin”, which is in danger – the awakened ancient army of Hive seeks to destroy it.
In terms of the plot, the developers again failed, but at least there are attempts to make a worthy campaign. Let all the missions and pass for an hour and a half, but the direction of the movement is correct – they introduced a new mechanic (a fiery spear that can be thrown into the opponents, inflicting tremendous damage to them) and added good bosses to two missions. The narration in this case was severely damaged, as the events unfold too fast and reveal no hero. But it’s fun to play.
Mars in Warmind turned out better than Mercury from Curse of Osiris – at least at the expense of various zones and the lack of an analog of the “Endless Forest”. If you were waiting for new enemies, you will be disappointed – on the way there are the same Hive creatures as before, only now they seem to be decorated with cryolite and make the sounds of cracking ice at death. Prepare to fight again with the full-fledged slaves, knights who put out shields at the first danger, “laser” ogres, flying magicians and hanging shriquers in the air. Soldiers of the Hive for some reason get bored not so much as the centuries, so you are unlikely to yawn from boredom. Especially if you return to Destiny 2 after a long break.
A distinctive feature of Mars is a large number of collector’s items. Some of them are scattered all over the map and require a special approach – one must shoot with a certain weapon, others are activated only with the help of a new spear. A total of 45, for finding everyone rewards in the form of an exotic bike-sparrow, and for 35 give a good sword. This is reminiscent of the search for “dead” ghosts in the last game of the series – sometimes they lie in places where they would never look. There is also a quest for which the Sleeper Simulant is given from the first Destiny. And one more task is divided into several stages and sometime later it will allow to get an exotic rifle – an extra reason to run the game for several weeks.
In other words, the developers wanted to make the addition “long-playing”, so that the audience did not disperse in a couple of days. Therefore, the pumping of the character here too slow – in the usual way you will very quickly reach a light indicator of 340 units (345 with modifications), but after that the situation will become more complicated, since the gap between 345 and 385 (the maximum possible) is huge. Ways to get quality equipment is not so much: weekly tests (which are units), raid and Tests of the Nine. Periodically, you will notice that things begin to fall out of the engrams a little better than before, but with them at some point you will be rested against the wall and will be forced to wait for a weekly update of the tests. In general, if the indicator of light is important for you, then it will take a very long time to play.
There is another way to spend time with benefit – the passage of an open event “Escalation Protocol” on Mars. Thanks to this innovation, the planet becomes much more lively than all other locations in the shooter. The event resembles Archon’s Forge of Destiny: Rise of Iron, only the action takes place not in a separate zone, but directly in the open space. The event will be a real test for all participants: there are a lot of enemies, bosses are too strong, it’s too easy to die. All this is clearly not designed for a team of three players, and in a broader composition to land on the planet is impossible. Now the fans make whole instructions explaining how you can start the event with a car, but we did similar things about four years ago – it’s time Bungie already make the process more convenient!
The raid-lair, too, turned out to be quite good. Its main disadvantages can be called podnadoevshy design locations (the third time it turns out to be “Leviathan”, albeit in its new halls, not very interesting) and the presence of the boss only in the finale – before it gets to solve riddles again. The battle with the boss became the most complex in the history of Destiny, and unprepared teams spent much more time on it than usual. The first group completed the lair seven hours later, and it was a long time fan of the shooter – ordinary users probably still have problems with the last stage. Designers should be praised for their ingenuity, but it is better to leave the idea with the lairs in the future overboard.
Bungie would not have been Bungie if the new addition had not been without absurd decisions that would be fixed by patches only after popular indignation. And it’s not even that the two new raids are the expanded versions of already existing story missions, and the third is the exclusive PlayStation 4. The fact is that the heroic raids complicated – there were additional modifiers and dangerous enemies – but the reward for the passage does not correspond this complexity. You will lose things with 340 units of light, which is ridiculously small – the same equipment can be obtained in any other mode, with less effort. Therefore, from heroic attacks so far no use.
But the very presence of modifiers is already a step in the right direction, and they are available to all players with the release of a major patch. The update brought the shooter the ability to change all four gestures in the inventory, significantly improved or processed exotic weapons, increased the size of the storage, added all kinds of seasonal ranks and much more. In PvP now there are closed matches, which in the sequel for some reason did not transfer initially, although in the first Destiny they were. PvP itself still remains dull to the dismay, as the attackers alone achieve success much more often than those who try to fight alone, but by the autumn it is worth waiting for some changes. Not just because in the last “Iron Banner” allowed to play in teams of 6 people, as in the good old days.
Despite some positive aspects, Warmind remains a passing addition, which will not have a significant impact on the interest of players to the second part. The content is still there, but it is artificially stretched, as in some shareware projects, and its number is not impressive. It remains to wait for the autumn, when a major addition for $ 40 will certainly come out – not so long ago Bungie gathered in the office of tape drives Destiny 2 and figured out what they wanted and why some of them threw the game. They say that developers really want to fix everything, but why they need a whole group of suggestive fans for this – it’s not entirely clear.
If you have already made the mistake of buying a season ticket, you will probably spend a few interesting evenings in Warmind. All the rest can not pay attention to this release – although this supplement and better than Curse of Osiris, to recommend it to buy is still difficult.

|Single player game||Subject missions, as well as adventures on Mars, can be done in a few hours. After that – go to perform exotic quests, look for secrets and spend time in PvP or in useless heroic strikes. At the evening, another content is enough.|
|Collective game||As before, passing missions and quests are much more fun with friends. With them, you can go to a new raid-lair, which turned out pretty good. That’s just whether your friends will want to download anew a long-deleted Destiny 2?|
|Overall Impression||If you already have a season ticket, spend a couple of evenings on the new content is worth it, because some tasks turned out very exciting. But to buy this DLC at the full price is definitely not worth it.|
