On May 12 fans of the football club Hamburg organized a riot at the home stadium Volksparkstadion, after learning of the departure of the team from the Bundesliga. This happened during the match of the 34th round of the German Premier Division with the Smarbach Borussia. And although this match ended in victory, “Hamburg” with a score of 2: 1, in order to stay in the Bundesliga did not have only two points.
The riots started during the added time, when, as a result of the parallel match between Wolfsburg and Cologne, it became known that Hamburg had lowered into the second division. Fans began to throw the field with fireworks and firecrackers, and even tried to break through to it, so they had to use the police to pacify. As a result, the match was delayed more than 10 minutes.
For fans of one of the oldest clubs in the country, this was a real tragedy. Since the creation of the Bundesliga in 1963, Hamburg has always played in it. Since 1910 the team has never flown from the top league of Germany.
Established at the stadium “Volksparkstadion” counter of the stay of “Hamburg” in the Bundesliga had to be reset.
