Concept: Lenovo Z5 – “truly” frameless phone

No bangs. But will such a smartphone be convenient?

Vice President of Lenovo Group Chang Cheng announced threlease of the new flagship smartphone Z5, on the front panel which will not be “bangs”, and the frames will be ultra-thin.

According to the idea of the authors, the Z5 display will occupy 95% of the area of the front panel – this will be a record for modern smartphones. Among the best indicators in the industry – Mi Mix 2 , where the ratio of the screen to the body is 91.3%. For comparison: the display of the iPhone X – 82,9%.

At this stage, little is known about Z5: it’s not even clear yet whether this is a concept or a device already in development. Details about the characteristics were not disclosed. Cheng promised “four technological breakthroughs” using 18 patented technologies, but the renderer does not demonstrate a complete device.

The hull is supposed to be made of metal, at least at the left end there will not be any elements, and the port will have only one – Type-C. One of the main questions is where Lenovo will place the speaker (probably at the top of the case) and the front camera (it probably has to be sacrificed or it will be retractable), and also how the fingerprint sensor will work.
