State-owned Chinese company AVIC plans to begin deliveries of the world’s largest amphibian aircraft AG600 in 2022. The first flight took place in December 2017. The design of the aircraft took about eight years. In size it is like Boeing 737 and is designed to combat forest fires and rescue operations on the water.
The aircraft’s flight range reaches 4.5 thousand km, it is adapted for take-off and landing on water at waves up to two meters high. The AG600 is equipped with four turboprop engines, it can carry up to 50 people during rescue operations, and also gain 12 tons of water in 20 seconds.
To date, the AG600 has received 17 orders from Chinese companies and government agencies.
