The Brazilian lived 22 years in a sand castle on the beach

He built the castle himself.

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Marcio Mizael Matolias, nicknamed “King”, built a castle on the beach, where he lived for 22 years. The sources of inspiration for him served as the architecture of Antonio Gaudi and Oscar Niemeyer.

Initially Matolias did not plan to live in his castle and was going to use it as a bookstore. However, he later moved from his permanent home to a sand building reinforced with wooden beams.

The Brazilian cooks on the tile outside his home and pays for the opportunity to take a shower at the fire station across the road. His time he spends on reading, playing golf and improving the castle.
