“I will not break,” sings the actress, who was not allowed to go to Kiev a year ago.
On the Sunday broadcast of the program “Time” on the First Channel, they premiered the song “I Will not Break”, from which the singer in a wheelchair Yulia Samoilova will represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon.
“I Will not Break” was written by the team: musician Leonid Gutkin who became the author of the songs of Dina Garipova and Polina Gagarina, and two authors from Israel – Natta Nimrodi and Arie Burshtein. They also wrote a song for Samoylova, with whom she never performed in Kiev.
In 2017, the Security Service of Ukraine banned Samoilova from entering Kiev because of a violation of local legislation. The singer was accused of entering Russia from the Crimea, which the host country of Eurovision-2017 considers temporarily an occupied territory.
Then the European Broadcasting Union, which organizes Eurovision, invited Russia to send another contestant or arrange a speech by Samoilova on a space bridge. The first channel did not accept these options and refused to broadcast the contest in Kiev.
As early as 2017, the First Channel and VGTRK, which also has the right to choose Eurovision participants, decided that Samoilova would represent Russia in 2018. Eurovision in Lisbon will be shown on federal TV.
