The state of California was the first to introduce a new rule for developers: all new homes starting in 2020 should be equipped with solar panels. This will reduce the number of harmful emissions and improve the environmental situation, but it will have a negative impact on the cost of an already expensive real estate in the region.
The rule was introduced by the California Energy Commission. The new regulation applies to all houses up to three stories high, including buildings for one or more families. According to the plan, the state should consume at least 50% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030. At present, the indicator is about 16%.
At the same time, the new demand will entail a rise in property prices – by approximately $ 8-12 thousand. The average price of a house in California is $ 565,000.
