Celebrities tried on outfits designed to reflect the relationship of fashion and Catholicism.
May 7 at the New York Metropolitan Museum passed an event that is often called the main fashion event of the year – the charity ball of the Institute of Costume Met Gala.
Each year the theme of the ball is determined by an exhibition that opens right after Met Gala. In 2018 the exposition is called “Divine bodies: fashion and Catholic imagination”, and its curator visited the Vatican several times, agreeing on the details. The exhibition will feature thematic costumes from Coco Chanel, John Galliano and other world famous designers, as well as details of the vestments of the Pope that had never before been exhibited outside of Italy.
The stars of the cinema, serials and music scene in their costumes beat the theme of religion in different ways: some celebrities had “angel wings”, others limited allusions to monastic vestments or to heroes of religious painting.
