For the first time since the 1990s, the head of state abandoned the usual Mercedes in favor of a car from the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.
May 7, 2018, Vladimir Putin for the fourth time took office as president: for the inauguration ceremony, the head of the country came to the Russian limousine project “Cortege.” Until the last moment, it was not known whether a new car would appear at the event, supposedly because it might not have time to prepare it because of problems in production. The president drove by car about 200 meters to the Grand Kremlin Palace.
About technical features of the “Cortege” is almost nothing known, but its creation has been engaged since 2012, having invested more than 10 billion rubles. This is the first domestic automobile project since the 1980s, where not only the top officials of the state and officials will move, but also, if desired, ordinary citizens of the country.
The inauguration of the president is the debut appearance of the limousine project “Cortege”, the official name of which is the “Unified Modular Platform” (EMP). In total, it involves the production of four types of cars – a limousine, a sedan, a minivan and an off-road vehicle – for officials and commercial sales.
The internal design of the project cars is not integrated with the car systems Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to avoid data leakage from the phone when it is connected to the car. Designers also abandoned the touchscreen, and in the interface of the machine only basic functions are installed: volume knob, air conditioning control and built-in controller for additional purposes. For example, to adjust the seats or start the “massage” mode at the seats. The interface control buttons are duplicated on the rear passenger’s panel.
