According to the UK, which detained dozens of flights, the company deceived customers.
The Investigative Committee of Russia instituted criminal proceedings against employees of the private airline VIM-Avia. They were suspected of fraud in a particularly large amount – in the amount of 1 million rubles (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, the employees of the company had a “criminal intent”. They knew that the company did not have enough money to buy fuel, including at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport, where it is based. Contracts with other suppliers from VIM-Avia also did not exist, so she could not carry passengers.
In the release of the IC, the names and positions of the airline’s employees are not specified, but the sources of the Moscow agency in the department saidthat the case was brought against the leadership.
Despite this, the carrier continued to sell air tickets, receiving more than 1 million rubles for it. At what time staff could steal money, it was not specified, it is only known that they did this until September 22.
Investigators interviewed the general director of VIM-Avia, sent inquiries to suppliers and requested documents from the carrier.
From September 22 to 24, the airline detained dozens of flights with a flight from Domodedovo. According to Vedomosti, the company has been working at a loss for many years every winter season, and in the summer it earns on charter flights and gives debts. The carrier himself noted that there was a “traditional summer recession”.
