7 cool Android advantages that are missing in the iPhone

About a month left until the main summer event of Apple called WWDC 18 . The presentation is primarily aimed at software developers, they will demonstrate and provide test versions of iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS.

We are most looking forward to the presentation of iOS 12 and macOS 10.14 Very High Sierra. It’s time to think about what we want to see useful in the mobile operating system.

We will not demand the impossible, but just look into the camp of competitors and see which Android chips will fit the iPhone. I spent six months with the Samsung Galaxy S8 , and then returned to the iPhone and now I know for sure what almost all users of apple technology lack.

1. More functional dialer

The phone application has not changed much the last few years. On the one hand, voice calls are used by fewer users, but on the other hand, the application has long integrated messenger calls.

Quite strange that in Cupertino can not bring the program to mind. First you need to implement incoming calls in the form of banners, so you can just brush it off without accepting or rejecting the call.

Next, you need to add contact avatars in all sections of the program, enable smart search for the typed buttons from the numeric keypad and vibration while picking up the phone when dialing. From other useful trifles on Android, you can borrow the landscape mode of the application and the ability to receive a call by a customizable physical button.

2. Normal volume indicator

At last, Apple realized that covering the entire screen with a huge volume control indicator was not the best idea. In the built-in player, since recently, the volume is adjusted by a small slider in the upper corner of the screen.

Third-party applications, such as YouTube, have implemented their own indicators. It’s time to bring all this to a single standard and add a new informative and convenient indicator.

A good example is the same item from Android P . The pop-up menu not only displays the current volume level, but also allows you to switch audio profiles.

3. Adequate control panel

Previously, the bottom curtain iOS was scolded for the lack of settings and the ability to add new switches. Apple went to the meeting, added the control panel settings, but again stopped midway.

The main indicators and switches can not be hidden or swapped, and third-party applications can not be embedded in the panel. In addition to this, the logic of the Wi-Fi and Blutooth buttons changed, now they only allow breaking current connections, without disabling the modules themselves.

4. Quick start of camera

Very often the iPhone gets out of the pocket to quickly take a picture.

Running the side snap on the lock screen either tapers, or it jumps, getting to the main screen when the Touch ID triggers. Then to start the camera you have to search for the desired icon or open the application from the control panel with a snap and click.

Many smartphones on Android have long received a special button to launch the camera or have learned how to launch the application by double pressing the power button.

5. The dark theme of the design

The point here is not in the desire to customize the interface, but in the capabilities of the matrices used in the new iPhone models. OLED – perfectly copes with the display of black color and spends the minimum energy.

Why not combine these two features and not refine the smart inversion in the full dark theme of iOS design.

The main thing is not to make it an exclusive piece of the new iPhone or a feature of the model in black.

6. Rethinking system lockout

Now fans of Apple’s technology just argue that it’s more convenient and better – Face ID or Touch ID, forgetting about more sophisticated locking systems for competitors. On Android, you can flexibly configure the device lock, disabling the protection system at home, at work, in the car or simply by having a nearby connected gadget, such as a smart clock.

You can go even further and completely rethink the lock of the device. So a smartphone could without a password and scan to let the user on the desktop, but require identification during the launch of certain applications.

Face ID could work when starting settings, gallery, notes, instant messengers and other programs, the list of which could be customized. So you do not need to look at the screen at the right angle, for example, to watch videos, run games or a browser.

7. Configurable power saving mode

First you need to remove the automatic power-saving mode shutdown. Why is Apple confident that they know exactly when to change the yellow battery to green?

If the user is on vacation, a long trip or just away from the outlet and he was lucky enough to recharge the smartphone, you may not need to immediately turn on the full power of the device.

In the case of competitors, such a feature has been tuned for a long time . You can specify different profiles (to extend the autonomy for a different period of time), manage the parameters in each of them, see the projected increase in the operating time before recharging.

One would like to increase the auto-lock time in the power saving mode, the other – to configure the maximum performance in it, the third one simply needs to know what time it will take to look for an outlet after switching on the mode.

Here are such chips would make iOS 12 more interesting and user-friendly, and most importantly – would not have to boast of a couple of hundred new stickers and emoji.
