The patent application was filed by Ford , back in October 2017, and is now available on the website of the US Patent and Trademark Office.

It describes a car with a built-in motorcycle, which is in the middle, between the driver’s and passenger seats of the car. In this case, as they say in the patent application, they have a partially common instrument panel. In addition, the document notes that the motorcycle is equipped with an electric motor and can be operated in an autonomous mode.

According to Ford’s assumption, such a development could be useful in an urban environment where there are many restrictions related, in particular, to car parking. For example, in case of a difficult situation, the driver can park in a convenient place, with a special system to push the motorcycle out of its nest and then, to the destination, move already on the motorcycle.

It should be noted that the idea is really original, earlier all automakers tried to solve the problem of traffic with the help of airmobiles . In general, the very idea of a hybrid of an airplane and a car has been for more than a century, but so far it is only a matter of single samples and projects with uncertain prospects.

However, at the moment it is not known whether such a car will ever be created, because Ford has not yet reported anything about the plans for the project. (By the way, the Honda company had a similar idea: in the 80s of the last century, it produced a folding scooter, Motocompo , placed in the trunk of the car.)
