Twitter kept part of the passwords unencrypted in plain text

Millions of users of social networks Twitter better to change their passwords, no matter how complex they are. The administration of the network discovered an error, because of which the passwords were stored in the usual text form in their internal computer system, and not in an encrypted one.

The social network claims that the problem has already been resolved, there are no traces of hacking and leakage of “text” passwords. However, the administration still advises to change passwords just in case. And not only on Twitter, but also on other sites where users could use the same password.

Familiar with the situation, insiders Reuters reported that the number of incorrectly stored passwords was significant. And they were kept in the open for several months.
