In Detroit on the square near the Science Center of Michigan will install a statue of Robocop – a fictional hero from the film of the same name. The figure, which will be above three meters, collected about 70 thousand dollars with the help of the campaign at Kickstarter.

The installation of the monument began to be discussed in 2011 after the monument to Rocky Balboa, a movie hero, appeared in Philadelphia . Detroit residents assembled the group on Facebook, where they agreed with the sculptors and planned the budget. The Robocop model was created using a 3D scan based on his appearance from the first movie.

Initially, the authors wanted to make a two-meter bust, but when they were able to collect more than 50 thousand dollars declared, they decided to make a full-fledged statue above three meters. In April, a sculptor from the company Venus Bronze Works Inc produced a bronze monument and published his first photographs.

The date of installation of the figure has not yet been chosen, but according to plan this should happen before the end of May. Organizers have already agreed with the Science Center and have chosen a place for the future of the monument.

Robocop is the hero of the eponymous trilogy of Paul Verhoeven, Irwin Kershner and Fred Decker, which was released from 1987 to 1993. According to the plot, a policeman from Detroit is killed on assignment, after which his consciousness is saved in the body of a cyborg, which is subordinated to the largest corporation.
